Lying half-curled in a circular window that let light stream in over Shōryū's desk, Enki was currently not doing anything to help his king or the ministers, who were just shuffling out of the room, only looking vaguely annoyed. No matter what Itan and Shuko may have learned the many centuries before, they sometimes, still, couldn't keep their temper. Especially when Shōryū was at his most annoying.
"Any particular reason you felt they needed a lesson in patience today?" Enki yawned and stretched in the sunlight; it was finally beginning to get warmer, and it made him comfortably lazy. But the weather turning made him think of another place, and it was with a start that he realized that, yeah, it'd been almost a year since he was last Over There.
He wondered what might have happened in a year; things seemed to have been moving quickly these last decades... Apparently Hourai could no longer keep itself apart from the rest of the world.
Shaking his head and stifling another yawn, Enki looked over at Shōryū. Maybe he was just restless, like Enki was starting to feel; even with flying mounts, travelling during winter wasn't particularly pleasant (unless you went to the southern kingdoms), so he'd, as usual, been restricted to lazing about down in Kankyuu.

It was incomprehensible the level of tension that had disappeared as what his body knew and his mind only temporarly did, finally meshed into the whole, uninterrupted knowledge of the fact, resonating through his self, that Shōryū was his chosen king. Enki shook his head, trying get rid of the frustration towards those that had kept this from him. Holding on to that wouldn't help.
He had it back, that was what was important. And now he didn't need to 'accidentally' (led by confusedly following the ouki) stumble upon Shōryū and get smacked in the face several times a day, unless he spent the whole day with the idiot. He knew perfectly well where Shōryū was, so he knew he wouldn't (currently) find him in the Black Dorm. But that wasn't why he was wandering into the dorm Shōryū slept in. No, Enki was looking for someone else, someone who he couldn't find by following some mystical aura. Which was why he was starting at the dorm Suzaku slept in.
If he was lucky, the teenager would be in here.

The man was impossible! Apparently not even being adbucted to some strange place was enough to at least have him up at a reasonable time; admittedly, though, Enki had been sleeping late too, this past week, but not this late! And if he didn't sleep until lunch, then Shōryū didn't get to do that either!
Enki was a kirin on a mission, and not even his faintly growling stomach would deter him. Did he look like some babysitter, anyway? In full annoyed mode, Enki barged into the dorm room where Shōryū was still sleeping. Or at least lounging in bed, Enki wasn't sure. And why was that? Because the moment he'd marched up to the bed and viciously tugged the covers off, he'd been hit by a wave of warmth that made his knees weak. Literally.
What the---!
Knees, meet floor. Luckily, he didn't prostrate himself fully, due to Shōryū lying in bed and his feet now being at the same height as Enki's head while kneeling. Taking a deep, quivering breath, Enki tried to get the elation under control.
They thought this was funny huh? Well, even if they didn't, he was sure he knew someone who did.
"Not. One. Word." Enki ground out as he sat up properly.

As of yet, he had avoided being owned; he wanted no part in the violence, even less this frivolous sort. There may be no injuries, there may be no blood, but the pain was real enough and who did something like that? How sick could you be?
Enki gave the receptionists an angry glare as he stormed into the lobby. He wasn't sure why he was here, exactly. Some would maybe have said it was because it was one of the places unrestricted to the 'discards', but what did he care? The forests were free to walk through, for example. He didn't really mind the discard position; there was more than enough to eat, and most of thse desserts he neither cared for, nor could have, anyway. And his weapon, he knew, weren't very strong. That his weapon actually looked like a weapon made his insides curl up on themselves; he'd have been much happier with something that did not look like an actual weapon.
Standing some way past the now-closed doors behind him, Enki scowled and scratched his neck. Why had he wandered into here, anyway? There was something... If he had been home, he'd have said it felt like when he was getting closer to the king after having been in Hourai for a few days, but that couldn't be it, because the king wasn't here. Couldn't be here. He'd even take Shōryū's precense! Anything! And he really wished that strange, faint elated sensation would go away.

It didn't take long to wake up after the dream ended and the call for 'next stop, Utopia Academy' (what was this, a Wa train?) to penetrate the hazy fog of near-waking. Enki woke with a start, because what he was sleeping on wasn't soft enough to be his bed. He also happened to have his head in someone's lap. The name he'd been about to mumble died unsaid, because he couldn't remember. How. Could he not remember the name of his nyokai?
Getting up from the bench fast enough to render everything a blur (and too quick, so close to waking, so he stumbled back against the window), Enki stared at the young man whose lap he'd... borrowed. It wasn't Shoryu. That would be understandable if it had been, but it wasn't.
"Who are you?" So he solved that by demanding a name, all the while trying to figure out what was going on. He couldn't feel his nyokai (HOW could he not remember her name?) or any of his shirei, nor the presence of the king. How was that even possible.
